Before we start this course, we will first look at what will be covered during the training. The course is dived into categories and in each category, there are a number of videos. You can pause and watch again any video of the course. We update our courses regularly and you will be able to see the replacement and new videos as they are released.

You work through the course videos in order and to give you an idea of what the course will cover, the categories and videos on this course are:

Firstly, an introduction and what dementia is. It will then go on to talk about the different types of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular dementia and the diagnosis and reporting of these different types. It will also touch on the subject of the risk factors affecting the chance of developing dementia. 

Looking after someone with dementia is also a category of this course. It will cover things like, living with dementia, things that help the carer, doctors and medication and ID tags and bracelets. 

In the discussing dementia category, it will go over communication with dementia, dementia with the seasons, dignity and respect and finally the memory box.  The regulations of dementia are also included, such as the human rights act, discriminatory abuse and safeguarding vulnerable groups act.

Finally, the last category in the course mentions where to get more help and support and the virtual dementia tour.
